Died Young Stayed Pretty is a one-off documentary directed and produced by Iranian-born Canadian filmmaker Eileen Yaghoobian. It follows the burgeoning world of rock posters, a cottage industry that has developed into one of America's leading underground art movements.

Yaghoobian, who runs Norotomo Productions, travels across the US and interviews characters including Art Chantry and Brian Chippendale, elusive artists and screenprinters that have worked on posters for bands such as Sonic Youth and Radiohead. Also featured is Derek Hess' Shudder To Think flyer that featured a Barney-esque cartoon animal in a Nirvana t-shirt with a shotgun and the slogan ‘[Pearl Jam's] Eddie Vedder is a Poser Until He Pulls The Trigger'.

"I love the posters and the way that they use imagery to represent rock n roll," she says.

Yaghoobian has amassed over 250 hours of footage in three years and was awarded a grant from the Canadian Council.

"Although I have enough footage for four docs I went with one story. My movie is about the community," she adds. "For me, I've broken a lot of documentary structures but the movie is like one big poster."

The film was awarded official selection at the Montreal World Film Festival and Canadian broadcaster Super Channel has inked a deal that will see it air later this year. Indie film distributor Films We Like has also inked a DVD deal with Warner Music Canada and Yaghoobian is currently in talks with international distributors and broadcasters.
